This listing is for a 1" slip on biothane martingale collar. The chain options are 2.5mm stainless steel, 3mm stainless steel, 2.5mm solid brass, and 3mm solid brass. The 3mm chains are longer and heavier. If your dog is a strong puller, the 3mm chain is the strongest, and stainless steel is stronger than brass.

These collars are made depending on your dog's head and neck size. Please tightly measure the widest part of your dog's head (with ears squished down) with a soft measuring tape for the dog's head width, and tightly measure your dog's neck for the neck size. The collar will be made using these measurements, so please measure correctly. Refunds and returns are not available, even if you measure your dog incorrectly.

HARDWARE

While the chains are all either stainless steel or solid brass, the available hardware choices for the buckles are nickel plated and solid brass. Solid brass is rust proof, so if your collar will be repeatedly exposed to water, it would be the best hardware choice! Please note that brass will darken as it develops a patina. This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the hardware.

To maintain, simply wipe with a wet paper towel or wash with soap and water. Avoid wetting plated hardware as it is not rust proof, and it should be dried after water exposure.

NOTE

While biothane is the perfect material for dogs who are frequently exposed to water, it should not be used in chemically treated pools. Chlorine can cause the biothane to crack. Biothane should not be used with a flea collar. Collars should be removed when a topical flea treatment is administered, and may be replaced once the treatment has fully dried. As with chlorine, flea collars/treatments can cause biothane to crack. This does not happen in every instance, but be aware that it is a possibility and these things should be avoided for the longevity of your gear.
