This leash is the same as our 3/4" standard leash, except it has an additional snap to use with a prong collar backup! Prong collars are known for coming apart at the worst time (i.e. when a dog is lunging). They're safest when used with a backup collar, which most people connect to the prong with a carabiner. As someone who used this method for my prong collar backups, it can be a bit irritating to connect the collars with a carabiner. That irritation was my reason for making this leash. Having an additional snap connected to the leash makes connecting the collars much faster and easier!
The length of the secondary snap from the leash is 8" and should work in most cases. If you need it to be a longer length, please email us at bigbadwoofco@gmail.com before placing an order.
HARDWARE The available hardware choices are nickel plated trigger snaps, stainless steel bolt snaps, solid brass trigger snaps and bolt snaps, and aluminum auto-locking carabiners. Solid brass and stainless steel are rust proof, so if your leash will be repeatedly exposed to water, they would be the best hardware choices! Please note that brass will darken as it develops a patina. This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the hardware.
To maintain, simply wipe with a wet paper towel, or wash with soap and water. Avoid wetting plated hardware as it is not rust proof, and it should be dried after water exposure.
NOTE
While biothane is the perfect material for dogs who are frequently exposed to water, it should not be used in chemically treated pools. Chlorine can cause the biothane to crack. Biothane should not be used with a flea collar. Collars should be removed when a topical flea treatment is administered, and may be replaced once the treatment has fully dried. As with chlorine, flea collars/treatments can cause biothane to crack. This does not happen in every instance, but be aware that it is a possibility and these things should be avoided for the longevity of your gear.
